Thw World Health Organization

The World Health Organization is an international orgainzation that was founded about one hundred years ago. What The World Health Organization does is provides people across the global with health tips and health services. The World Health Orgaination is an organization that functions in over eighty different countries across the world. I chose to do my final paper on The World Health Organization because I feel that myself, as a citizen can benifit from this organization. This organization collects universal data of heath issues that affect people across the globe. It keeps us informed and helps us benifit with individual health by keeping us informed about certain diseases that are affecting the major population.

The World Health Organization has created it's own accomplishments and because of this certain organization we now celebrate world health day as a national holiday which brings awarenesses to people everywhere. This organization has dedicated it's all to helping people in need. For example, one goal of this organization is that they are going to help to vanish the disease of SARS, they hope to come up with a drug that will have a cure to all those whose are suffering for it today. The World Health Organization is one that will continue to englighten people about there health, regardless of them suffering from a sickness or not, this oprganization helps in the overall health of people everywhere.

Global Exchange, "Fair Trade Chocolate and Cocoa: The Sweet Solution to Abusive Child Labor and Poverty"

The whole idea of chocolate being the sweet candy for people to eat nowadays is somewhat true, every now and then one can not help but want a treat here and there. Today is seems as if we people get more and more cavaities everyday. How cheap is it to purchase a piece of candy? How cheap is it to the producer or big businesses? The sad reality is that people do not always ask the questions after purchasing it. The economy and it's people are human being, that is those who come from foregin countries and those who are right out our doors that have been the subject of constant abuse.

After getting the chance to read over the article I found interesting insights to producers who allow abuse and poverty to contiune with workers. Big business owners can not help but have people working for low wages because of fear with competition with other businesses. If busniesses paided their workers decent wages they to would be placed in poverty. Does it make it right? No, I feel it does not make it right. All people are equal and if businesses can not afford to paid their workers than maybe that business needs to undergo adjustments. How does abuse get tied into this all? Abuse is an action that is done to be little and intimidate the other person making them the helpless victim. In order for large company's to gain controll the use of physical violence is demonstrated and thus there we have forced labor, which can tie into the concept of human trafficking. Signs of trafficked persons entail people who are submissive and fearful of leaving their work place, hence, people like those who make the what we all love "chocolate.' The way in which chocolate is covered with a paper we can connect it to how we conver up the curel production of what everyone takes for granted.

Questionnaire Reflection

When I first received the Proust Questionnaire I literally stared at the paper for about five minutes contemplating on how I could answer the questions. Me at the age of nineteen was amazed and impressed about how Marcel answered the questions at the young age of thirteen. As I went on to read thoroughly through Marcel's responses I started to get a better understanding of how to grasp the questions and answer them with my own feelings and thoughts. Completing the questionnaire was very interesting and has given me some understanding of how I think and feel. I enjoyed this exercise because it made me think about things I've never been asked before. For example, the question, "when I am the happiest?." If someone asked me that question before I had a chance to see it on paper I'm sure I would have been dead silent because until this questionnaire I see now what makes me happy and doesn't, what values I have and which ones I don't hold. For the future I will now be forever critical about understanding my surroundings throughout my life.

I look forward to exploring ways of formatting research papers in this class. This questionnaire gave me a somewhat feel of what this class is going to offer me and I am thrilled to come into this english class. What I have grown to realize over the years is the fact that I don't like to think outside the box, I tend to go for the obvious. I will push myself to think more abstractly, therefore, even improving my writting skills. I wish for the best this semester.
